Städtisches Klinikum Dresden Neustadt New Building Intensive and Intermediate Care Unit I Central Operating Unit Expansion Reconstruction Obesity Unit Schön Klinik München Harlaching Central Operating Unit Redevelopment and Expansion INTENSIVE PLANNING An externally modest yet internally highly intensive new clinic building for the Klinikum Dresden Neustadt has been built during ongoing business operations on its very restrictive site located between the existing clinic facilities and a listed residential area from the 1920 s Previously located in several buildings the operational departments are now concen trated in one location It also includes a new intensive and immediate care unit with single patient rooms and spacious two bed patient rooms for the possible isolation of infected patients The building also provides staff with attractive facilities with much daylight at a central location to ensure a high quality work environment The expanded operating facilities also include equipment for the treatment of obese patients Provision of medical care is complemented by an extensive obesity unit in the neighbouring building which is currently being structurally adapted and especially equiped for this patient group Creating modern facilities for doctors nurses and sisters was also the central theme of a similar project for the Schön Klinik München Harlaching Expansion of the central operating facilities and restructuring the recovery room and in tensive care unit carried out during normal working hours in a restrictive location were achieved in a similar fashion The staff today benefit from short distances and logical room connections and enjoy an attractive recreation room with panorama windows providing views to the treetops opposite 66
